Summer Dance Programs 2024

Here is all of the information you need about summer dance programs at the Academy this year! What kind of dance are you interested in this summer? The Academy is offering a wide variety of evening classes and exciting day camps for dancers of all ages and levels! Continue reading to learn more about the programs we're offering this year, or go to our registration page to find out how to register!

*Summer Dance Registration has been extended to June 28th.*

Why send your kids to Summer Dance programs? Summer dance classes are a great way for experienced dancers to stay in shape in between two seasons of regular dance classes. They are also the perfect opportunity for new dancers to try out different styles for a short time and find out which style they love best! Summer dance camps are a fun full-day experience of games, crafts, dancing and fun--a great way to make new friends and explore dance in a friendly, open environment. And Summer Intensives are an immersive experience for experienced dancers who are interested in improving their technique, exploring new ways to train and perform, and having fun while gaining confidence as performing artists.

Dancers will also enjoy arts and crafts and daily outdoor play at the nearby park. No previous dance experience necessary. 9am-4pm.

2. Earthsteps Environmental Dance Camp (Ages 6-9 AND 10-14) - July 22nd-26th

This year we will again have two age groups of our Earthsteps Environmental Dance Camp. This exciting day camp introduces kids to contemporary dance foundations as well as exploring improvisation, teamwork, and performance while learning about environmental justice and advocacy. Ideal for the nature-loving child who is passionate about making positive changes in the world. Dancers will also have the opportunity to create arts and crafts, visit local parks each day, participate in community environmental work and activism, and give a performance at the end of the week for family and friends. No previous dance experience necessary. 9am-4pm.

3. Ballet Intensive Weekend - July 27th & 28th (RAD Grade 4 to Advanced) *NEW*

This is a very exciting new summer program for keen ballet dancers interested in enhancing their ballet technique and learning classical ballet choreography. Run by professional ballet instructor Michele Hopkins, this will be a fun and challenging weekend of Barre & Centre technique classes, Turns & Allegro workshops, Stretch & Strength, and Classical Variations. Open to dancers age 11-18 currently registered in RAD Grade 4-RAD Advanced or equivalent from other studios. 10am-4pm (tentative schedule, will be confirmed after registration is complete based on numbers).

4. Competitive Highland Dance Intensive - August 6th-9th (Beginner-Premier)

This half-day intensive will help competitive highland dancers train, learn new dances and skills, and prepare for the Fergus Scottish Festival & Highland Games. Open to Beginner, Novice, Intermediate, and Premier level dancers regardless of whether they plan to compete this summer. 9am-12pm.

4.5 Highland for Non-Highland Dancers Intensive - August 6th-9th *NEW*
